In
partnership with the Hispanic American Medical Association
(HAMA) of Central New Jersey, CASC has hosted an annual
Community Health Fair each spring since 2000. The goal
of this annual event is to provide free health screenings,
general information, access to health care professionals,
and other supportive community services designed to
promote healthier lifestyles through prevention. This
fair provides a vital service for local residents with
limited or no health insurance, who may be unable to
receive medical attention otherwise. |
|
Over
40 health care providers each year participate in this
event. Services include blood pressure checks, glucose
and cholesterol screenings, chiropractor consultations,
bone density screenings, pulmonary function tests, prostate
and clinical breast exams, free “Ask a Doctor” consultations
and more. A blood donation drive is conducted on-site
by the Community Blood Council of New Jersey. |
|
Admission
is completely free and open to the public. The fair
also features free refreshments, children’s activities,
vendors, raffles and door prizes. A 5K Race for Health
and kids’ Fun Run were added in 2005 with great success,
further promoting community participation and family
health. |
| |
Collaborators
in this event include Better Beginnings Child Development
Center, Cancer Institute of New Jersey, East Windsor
Regional School District, East Windsor Township Commission
on Aging, Hightstown Borough, Hightstown/East Windsor
League of Women Voters, Mercer County Library System,
and Latina Women’s Council Hightstown/East Windsor Chapter.
|
|
This
event is made possible through the continued support
of East Windsor Township, Hightstown Borough, Mercer
County Department of Health and Human Services, and
the Thomas G. Ohl Foundation. |

|
| Each year CASC registers
hundreds of families for this program, in which food
baskets are donated and personalized holiday gifts are
provided for children.
Last
year, in partnership with
East
Windsor PBA Local #191,
CASC served 75 families in the Hightstown-East Windsor
area with baskets filled with much-needed nourishment
and good wishes, while nearly 100 residents were served
a hot Thanksgiving meal at the
Americana Diner. In partnership with local
civic associations such as the Junior League of
Greater Princeton, CASC also hosts an
annual community holiday party where gifts are
distributed while children enjoy crafts, cookies, and
visits with Santa. In 2005, over 500 local children
received donated gifts through this program. |
|
|
| Each
fall since 2001, CASC is proud to honor some of the finest
contributors to our local community, while bringing together
a “who’s who” of elected officials and residents with
members of our corporate, business, and non-profit communities.
CASC hosts this special event as an opportunity to publicly
thank corporate, civic and individual supporters of our
agency and our community. |
| |
| The
gala event, which features a silent auction, serves as
CASC’s primary fundraiser for the upcoming year and provides
attendees with a unique networking opportunity. Sponsorships
and advertising space in the gala keepsake journal are
available for purchase as well. Proceeds from this fundraising
gala directly benefit CASC’s family supportive programs. |
| |
| CASC
would be unable to provide essential services to our community
without the support of our local corporate, civic and
business partners, as well as the residents who donate
and volunteer regularly. Because of this, CASC is honored
to celebrate people who generously contribute so much
of themselves to making our community a better place to
live. |
