ABOUT
OUR BOARD
Randall
Brown has served as treasurer of CASC’s board of
directors since 1998. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the
University of Wisconsin. He is currently a Vice-President
and Board member for Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., an
employee-owned "think tank" in Princeton, New Jersey,
that conducts research for federal and state governments and
foundations on education, health, welfare, and employment
training.
He
is also an active member and elder of the First Presbyterian
Church of Hightstown, where he coordinates the church's participation
in the Mercer County Interfaith Hospitality Network, a program
under which area churches provide food and shelter to homeless
families on a rotating basis. In previous years he has chaired
the church's Property and Personnel commissions and served
as president of the church, and led a program to provide meals
to local residents with HIV/AIDS. He is married and has two
adult daughters.
William Gilmore, CASC’s board president,
is a senior project manager with Camp Dresser & McKee.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in history/political
science and a Master’s degree in public administration from
the University of Kansas, as well as a Master’s degree in
regional and community planning from Kansas State University.
He has 24 years of experience in directing management, finance,
performance improvement and strategic development programs
for utilities, municipalities, authorities, state and regional
agencies.
For
the past nine years, including two as board president, he
has been affiliated with the Greater Hightstown-East Windsor
Improvement Project, a local business group that develops
means of supporting and improving the business and quality
of life within Hightstown and East Windsor. He is married
with two children.
He
is also actively involved in the Unitarian Universalist Church
of Princeton, and is the current Vice-President of Finance
and Administration on the church’s Board, spearheading the
transition to a new financial system, update of policies and
procedures, and investment strategies of church revenues.
He has taught in the Religious Education program and is currently
leading a group working to potentially allow podcasting of
church services and other activities.
Elina Hernandez has been a member of CASC’s
board of directors since 2002. She serves as co-chair of the
Latina Women’s Council of Mercer County.
Katherine Patten is the most recent addition
to CASC’s board of directors. A lifelong educator with extensive
teaching and administrative experience, she holds a Bachelor
of Science degree in Education from SUNY Oswego, a Master
of Arts degree in English from Northwestern University, and
a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from
Rider University. She served most recently as an adjunct instructor
for Rider University’s School of Education, after retiring
as principal of the Littlebrook School in Princeton, NJ, following
a 23-year teaching career. Her leadership experience has garnered
recognition including a Governor’s Award for Outstanding Teaching
and a Dodge Fellow Grant for the Principals’ Center for the
Garden State. She co-founded Central Jersey Teachers Applying
Whole Language and served as the group’s president for five
years.
Currently,
she serves as co-chair of the Immigration Task Force and on
the steering committee of the Central Jersey Regional Equity
Coalition. She chairs the Hightstown-East Windsor Equity Coalition,
as well as the local Animal Welfare Committee. She also serves
on the executive committee of the Central Jersey Teachers
Association for Literacy Education, and as a member of the
Latina Women’s Council. In her spare time, she enjoys time
with her husband, children and six grandchildren.
Amanda
Porter joined CASC’s board of directors in 2002.
She was a charter participant in the New Jersey Governor’s
Teaching Scholars Program, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree
in English from Rutgers University. She served as a high school
teacher of English and drama director before becoming a full-time
mother. As a resident of Hightstown since 1995, she has been
active in a broad range of local civic groups and activities.
Now serving as vice-president of CASC’s board, she assists
in the annual coordination of special events including the
community health fair, Summer HELP enrichment program, holiday
gift program, and fundraising events such as the annual Community
Activist Awards and 5K Run for Health. She has facilitated
the creation of CASC’s website and other promotional materials.
She
also served on the founding board of directors for GLSEN-CNJ
(Gay/Lesbian/ Straight Education Network of Central New Jersey)
and trained as a volunteer for the local Domestic Violence
Victim Response Team. She is now active in the Grace N. Rogers
Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization and other local
parent groups. She is married and has two young children.
Nancy
Walker Laudenberger has served as Hightstown Borough’s
liaison to CASC’s board of directors since 1999. She is a
graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor
of Science degree in education . As a 28-year resident of
Hightstown, she is deeply involved in a broad range of local
political and civic organizations. Currently a member of Hightstown’s
Borough Council, she serves as liaison to the police department
and past council president. She has also served on the town’s
Planning Board, Environmental Commission, and Water and Sewer
Commission. She completed the CTW Excellence in Public Service
Series in 2000.
She
is a member and past president of the Junior Friday Club and
the Rocky Brook Garden Club, and now serves as a trustee of
the Hightstown-East Windsor Historical Society. She is a member
of the Friday Club, a board member for CONTACT of Mercer County,
and a volunteer with Womanspace’s Domestic Violence Victim
Response Team, CONTACT, and Interfaith Hospitality Network.
She has also served as a volunteer instructor for the East
Windsor Regional School District’s Saturday Academy and chaired
the Hightstown Community Fair since its inception in 2003.
She is also a member and former deacon of the First Presbyterian
Church of Hightstown.
